The Banyoles wastewater treatment plant (EDAR del Terri) processes domestic and industrial wastewater from the municipalities of Banyoles and nearby areas, discharging the treated water into the Terri River. The plant, inaugurated in 1992 and expanded in 1997 and 2010, currently lacks the capacity for nutrient removal. The project aims to expand the treatment capacity and biological nutrient removal to ensure the environmental quality of the discharge, in accordance with the European Water Framework Directive.
